Entries and Programs

Before making a horse racing bet take some time and look over the whole program. Not every horse race is beatable. Sometimes all of the information that you need to make an informed horse wager isn’t there.

Betting on two year old races and some maidens is a difficult task without information that is not available to the general horse betting public. On a typical 9 race program maybe only 4 or 5 races are worth your horse betting dollar. Thanks to simulcasting you can bet on several tracks at the same time.

One other thing to look at when it comes to entries is to try and think like the Track’s Racing Secretary. Was he having a hard time drawing a full field of horses to a particular race, or is he having an easy time filling fields? Sometimes a horse just barely fits a class, and other times it may appear that a race was carded just for one particular horse. Before making a bet on a horse race, make sure you read the full racing program and all of the entries for the day.
