Holiday Stakes Preview: Trio of Grade 1 Races on Tap

Three Grade 1 races highlight Saturday’s action, and before the holiday weekend is over, we will have the opportunity to wager on 17 graded stakes.

The Grade 1 action on Saturday starts with the $300,000 Suburban Handicap (G2) at Belmont Park, which drew a field of seven runners and six betting interests.

The race marks the return of I Want Revenge, who will be making his first start since winning last year’s Wood Memorial (G1).

At Belmont Park, trainer Todd Pletcher celebrated his 43rd birthday by saddling Devil May Care to victory in the $250,000 Mother Goose (G1).

Across the pond, trainer Aiden O’Brien made history by winning the $1.5 million Irish Derby (G1) at The Curragh for the fifth consecutive year.

Saturday Stakes Preview: From Big Apple to Altoona

There is plenty of stakes action on Saturday throughout the country to whet the appetite of any horseplayer.

There is a good chance trainer Todd Pletcher will saddle the winner of the $250,000 Mother Goose (G1) at Belmont Park.

The trainer will send out three of the five fillies in the race, including the likely favorite Devil May Care, who is making her first start since running tenth in the Kentucky Derby (G1).

In addition to hitting the Big Apple, let’s head out to the Jersey Shore for a couple of good betting races at Monmouth Park, and then head off to Altoona, Iowa for the second day of the Iowa Festival of Racing, which features three graded stakes on Saturday night.
