Strong Field Set For Woodbine

Two entries stand out in Thursday’s eighth race at Woodbine. Perfect Bullet and Sligovitz from Stronach Stable seem to be the favorites in the third-level allowance route that has a $80,000 to $75,000 claiming option.

Kaili Comes Back

Everyone likes a comeback story, and currently, we are in the midst of another one. 3-year-old filly Kaili, a Grand Slam home-bred for Edward and Theresa DeNike, is the star of this one. Kaili made her debut in August 2009, winning by three lengths. While preparing for her next race however, she suffered from sore knees and feet. As a result, her trainer, Lloyd Mason made the decision move her to the sidelines and recover.

Two Jockeys Down

Two jockeys were injured when they were thrown from their mounts in Saturday’s third race at Aqueduct. The accident began when Ryan and Jack stumbled and fell, throwing apprentice jockey Jason Garcia to the ground. Garcia may have struck the portable barrier in the fall. Jose Bermudez, riding October Dreams, was following behind and struck Ryan and Jack after the lead horse fell. Bermudez was sent flying from his mount as a result of the collision. While October Dreams was able to get up after the fall and gallop away, Ryan and Jack was not so lucky. The horse was euthanized after it was determined that it had received a fractured skull in the accident.

The Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile

There have been many exciting races this year, and on Saturday, there will be another enticing event for all of you horse fans out there to see. There is n impressive looking list of hopefuls set, and if things go off without a hitch, you can expect an outstanding race. At the moment there are a few favorites. The brightest amongst the bunch seems to be Bribon. This horse is coming in on a solid record, health, and ready to go.

Go Go Shoot

While there are many good races set for Thursday, one of the best ones at the moment is the 97th running of the Fall Highweight Handicap at Aqueduct. The Thanksgiving races are sure to get a lot of attention, and will definitely deliver great results. You can rest assured that there will be a lot of fierce competition, as horses like Go Go Shoot are coming in hot and ready to go.

Cost Of Freedom

There is always a favorite in every race, and for the Grade 3 Vernon Underwood Stakes, it looks like Cost Of Freedom will be taking the race. He is coming in on the best record, and will be pushing hard for the win.

Million Dollar Gourmet Dinner

While there were many great races this weekend, one of the best was the race that Gourmet Dinner ran on Saturday in the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot. Cash aside, this race was the win Gourmet Dinner needed to qualify for the Kentucky Derby betting next year. Trainer Steve Standridge says he has no desire to look that far ahead. The addition of blinkers made all the difference for this horse. Many are saying that the success was an indicator that Gourmet Dinner is ready for more challenging races.

Lookin At Lucky Retires

Lookin At Lucky has been prominent amongst some of the best races this year, and has delivered his fans and owners an amazing record this year. However, this magnificent horse has been retired after a very impressive 9 wins. He has been amazing throughout his entire career, and will now go on to lead a very luxurious life. Lookin At Lucky ended his career in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, finishing fourth behind Blame, Zenyatta and Fly Down.

Night Race At Churchill Downs

There will be another exciting race this coming Friday at Churchill Downs, but it won’t have the same air of prestige as the race in which Blame edged out Zenyatta to hand the horse her first loss. Still, the race officials are expecting a massive turnout, as the new program involving night races in the fall have been a great attraction for fans around the area. There are many benefits to the night races. They offer a cooler temperature for the horses to run in, and the fans don’t have to skip work. As such, all involved can come out to see the horses do their thing. Attendance has averaged a whopping 27,897 for the seven night programs held during the last two spring meets. That being said, officials are expecting at least 25 thousand people to turn up during the race.

Goldikova Is Horse Of The Year

While there are many great horses that have raced the tracks of today, one of the best this year has been Goldikova. This horse has been delivering solid results all year long, and won some pretty significant races as well. She was recently awarded the honor of being named the Cartier Racing Awards Horse of the Year. This is quite a prominent award, but the prestige matches the legacy. Goldikova became one of the best horses in the world through a long list of accomplishments, but one of the most impressive was her third Breeders’ Cup Mile victory on November 6th. She has been dominant in every category, and will now go on to improved training and conditioning, all in an attempt to better her record.
