Rachel Alexandra Prepares for Lady Secret Stakes

Rachel Alexandra, a four-year-old filly, is set to compete in the $400,000-dollar Lady Secret Stakes at Monmouth Park this coming Saturday. This important race will test her ability as well as her training.

Training is paramount in any sport, especially sports with animals involved. Not just training for the rider, or human, but also training for the animal itself. Being able to instinctually break for the inside, and once there accelerate till over the victory line is something all trainers wish to instill in their horses.

In preparation for Saturday’s Race Rachel worked a half mile in 49.60 at Saratoga this past Monday, her third move at that, according to her trainer, Steve Asmussen. Great things are expected of this winner of the 2009 Horse of the Year award winner, who is only 1 for 3 this year, despite boasting a win at last year’s Haskell invitational at Monmouth.

Competing against Rachel Alexandra will be Stage Trick, Queen Martha, Ask the Moon, Hark, Fabulous Babe and Yes She’s a Lady. Given the filly’s excellent conditioning and impressive track record, her chances are extremely good and she certainly hasn’t failed to come through in the past. Nevertheless, she’s up against a tough field and will have to work hard to bring home a win.

Hopefully, there will be good weather for the race in which Calvin Borel will be riding Rachel Alexandra. This matchup of skill can’t fail if the conditions are right. Rachel Alexandra won her last start following two second-place finishes earlier this year, this is definitely a solid track record so far. Someone who knows what they are doing will take this horse and make a lot of money off of it. The probability of obtaining a positive result is high.
